Young New York City based designer Daniel Vosovic debuted his first full women’s RTW collection for Fall/Winter 2010 during NY Fashion Week on Thursday, February 11th from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Exit Art. Vosovic’s tailored aesthetic was accentuated by strong marble inspired digital prints, detailed embroidered accents and strong structured shoulders.
Vosovic found his inspiration during a late night summer stroll through Washington Square Park in New York City. The designer developed the concept of his collection by observing the effects of time and the elements on various statues and sculptures and exploring the notion of creative destruction. Vosovic created completely original prints and embroideries derived from studying the aging process of oxidized copper, broken marble, and other materials in various stages of transformation.
The inspiration was communicated throughout the presentation space by dim ambient lights, models posed strongly on stark white pedestals, and a sweeping nature film projected on the walls made by young film makers Porter Panther (www.porterpanther.com). Through the use of tailored separates with digitally printed satins, richly colored suede, and flowing dresses, Vosovic was able to capture the essence of a quiet wide open park-like space filled with strong artistic silhouettes. Vosovic casted all Asian models to present his collection to the public as one cohesive form and add a striking consistency to the overall effect.
Hair was designed by Enrico Mariatti using Salon Tech styling tools, with the Cutler hair team pinning up the hair to create a grassy field effect, evoking a natural structured feel. Samantha Trinh of Atelier Management kept the make-up natural and dewy featuring earth tone shaded eyes and nude shimmery lips.
ALDO provided simple, chic pumps and booties with sky high heels in nudes and blacks to augment the simple statuesque vibe of the garments. New York City based Jewelry designer Sequin custom made strong, elaborately detailed jeweled necklaces and brass knuckle style rings to add a lovely feminine aspect and sparkle.
