cupcakeMAG Man of Style: Our Chat with Rob Kardashian

He's charming and buff -- and makes all the girls swoon. Rob Kardashian sits down and talks fashion, family and how to win his heart. We just can't get enough of his style too!

cupcakeMAG: Khloe & Lamar just finished their first season (which you were hilarious on!) and Keeping up with the Kardashian just started the new season. How is it filming with your family all the time?

Rob: I LOVE filming with the Fam all the time because it is about the only time I get to see everyone together and that’s when we have the most fun!  Everyone is so busy nowadays but I remember the days when we would do bowling nights or dinners and then go to clubs but things are different these days and our family really doesn’t  like to go out and party like that anymore.  We our homebodies and just like to be with each other.

CM: When it comes to your sister's significant others, what's your philosophy? Are you welcoming from the start, or do you make them jump some hoops?

Rob: I am very welcoming if I vibe with the person. If the person is closed off and a bore then of course I am not going to open up.  Our Family is very fun and we need to see that from the other person as well.  We are all together all the time so we all need to click.  But I never make anyone jump through hoops.  I’m pretty easy going.

CM: Career-wise, where do you see yourself? I'm sure people ask you this all the time, but what do you want to do?

Rob: Well people just assume what they see is my entire life which is completely untrue. I think it’s hilarious that everyone who watches our show and thinks they know me and think I’m some loser with no job and mooches off my sisters.  My father raised me until he passed away and it was just me and him and his values with business and life are very strong and he would NEVER allow me to just be jobless.  He would kill me otherwise.  I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch believe it or not in high school with a bunch of my buddies and my girlfriend at the time.  It was pretty fun! (laughs) That lasted 2 months.  Then I worked for CBS/KCAL Sports for about 3 summers because I have a passion for being an ESPN anchor.  Then I went to USC and graduated from the Marshall Business School in Entrepreneurship.  Once I graduated I didn’t waste any time and I developed a skin care line called “Perfect Skin” with a partner of mine and I had my Sisters endorse the product.  I was working there for almost 2 years when I lost the passion for it and started an online video game company called “Rival Spot” which allows you to bet other people online in video games for money.  Pretty cool considering I LOVE video games!  I am developing a few more ventures currently.  Also, I am going to coach my high school track team with my good friend because we were really passionate about running in high school and just LOVE the sport!

CM: Is there anything you miss about your life before the show?

Rob: I live the same life before the show as I do now.  Never did I change up my friends or become “Hollywood.”  That term makes me laugh.  I don’t even think of me as anything which I’m not in terms of the “celebrity” world.  I am the same guy as I was since middle school.  I do the same things and have the same circle.  I hate going out and I hate the fake scene.  But the opportunities that the show has brought to our Family is amazing and I just am taking advantage of that.

Now, on to the style questions!

CM: What brands dominate your closet?

Rob: My high fashion game isn’t where I would want it to be yet because I still am into the more skater/surfer/hipster style.  I know how to get right and wear a suit if need be but I’m a casual guy and dress how I want to dress not how everyone else dresses.  Right now I wear CROOKS & CASTLES, DIAMOND, THE HUNDREDS.

CM: If you have an event to attend or you are going somewhere special do you dress yourself or do you look to your sisters for help?

Rob: I sometimes will ask for my Sister’s opinion and ask if I look ok because I hate going out and dressing up so I’m never comfortable and always need that second opinion.

CM: What upcoming projects do we have to look forward to? (We are pulling for The Rob & Lamar Show! You guys are SO funny together!)

Rob: I have a few things that are really cool but I can’t say yet!

cupcakeMAG is a  big fan of all the Kardashians. Make sure you check out our interviews with Kourtney and Khloe too! And BIG THANKS to Rob for taking the time to chat with us - thanks for always making us laugh!

Get to know our Man of Style: Jack Ketsoyan

We have been so lucky to work with the FABulous, Jack Ketsoyan. Working with leading Hollywood ladies like Ali Landry, Kristin Cavallari, Kim Zolciak, Gretchen Rossi and so many more - he is a public relations fashion God and we love him, to pieces! He really defines our Man of Style and exemplifies the saying  - "Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway."

So, for those who know you - they know, you have a great style! What inspires you when getting dressed in the am or a night on the town?

JK: It varies with my mood and what I have going on that day. Sometimes I feel like wearing a pair of loud shoes and a dressy top, other days I’ll favor a v-neck t-shirt and jeans. In the end I wear what I like and what feel right in the moment.
What does every guy need to have in their closet?

JK: Shoes, shoes, and more shoes! Every guy should have a great pair of shoes in their closet. There’s nothing worse than seeing a man in bad shoes.
When it comes to shopping for yourself, do you have a favorite designer or store?

JK: Alexnader McQueen, John Galliono, Dior and Top Shop for men are my favorites at the moment. For smart shopping I suggest everyone check out Century 21; it’s hands down the best “designer for less” store in the country. Life is a runway – dress the part.

How would you describe your style?

JK: My style is very much ever changing. I go from wearing a shirt and bow ties to polos and jeans. I love trying new trends and styles. Playing around and finding what works for your body is a lot of fun for me.

What is one trend you just could live without?

JK: Anything bedazzled or rhinestones. Bling belongs on your jewelry not on our clothes.

As a PR God to the world, working with so many great people - what is a day in your life like? Give us a sneek peak!

JK: Well I have to say I drive around A LOT, weather it’s meeting with clients, covering photo shoots, talk show interviews, or traveling the world, I’m always out and about. In entertainment each day is different than the one before. You never really know what to expect, but I love that about this business. No day is “typical.” Sometimes I find out a day prior that I’m needed in New York or Atlanta for example – so, the very next morning I’m on a plane. That’s just the gig. Three years ago I started my own company, EMC|BOWERY, with my business partner Ben Russo. I have been very fortunate in this business to have what I have today and for that I’m grateful.

1.) I can cook.
2.) I collect art.
3.) I love anything sweet.
4.) I am Armenian.
5.) Sex in the City is my favorite TV show.
6.) Vintage stores max out my credit cards.
7.) I can't spell.
8.) My closet is color coded.
9.) I have over 300 pair of shoes.
10.) I am very loyal.
11.) I have a horse. Her name is Mary.
12.) I can’t eat pork.
13.) I want learn how to speak Spanish.
14.) I love roller coasters.
15.) I hate when people only text.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Jack as much as we loved sharing him with you!
He rocks so make sure you follow him on Twitter!

Men of Style!

You know them, we love them & their style. The world famous Guncles from Tori & Dean's Home Sweet Hollywood has now made another name for themselves - oh so stylish men! We were beyond excited to sit down and chat with them about their style and so sweet Simone

We do think you both have great style! Do you choose your clothes or do you have a stylist ? (or maybe Tori helps along the way...LOL)

Thanks! We choose our own clothes - With our favorite finds coming from H&M and inexpensive vintage shops in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. (Although we'd LOVE to have a stylist someday!)

What does every guy need to have in their closet?

Every guy needs Vans in their closet in all styles and colors. We wear them to events and dinners as well as everyday life.

Do you have a skincare routine? Products you can be without?

Actually yes! We use the "Perfect Skin" line from the Kardashian's...

How would you describe your style? What would you say is different about each others style?

Bill's style is a vintage tshirt, jeans. Scout's is a go-to black tshirt or v-neck, jeans or military style pants (because a busy dad needs all of those pockets!)

Where is your all time favorite place to shop?

Our all time favorite place to shop is the Goodwill and Salvation Army where Scout's mom lives in Pennsylvania. The tshirts we buy there for $1.00 would be $70-100 in a boutique in Los Angeles.

Your precious little Simone is uber-stylish herself. What are you favorite things to put her in? Favorite brands?

Simone is our little fashionista in training. For casual, we love to dress her in L'ovedbaby - their clothes are super soft and cozy. We also love H&M Kids and the vintage pieces her Aunt & Godmother Tori buys for her.

How has your life changed since Simone?

Well for starters, we're so beyond super happy! We've always dreamed of becoming dads and so it feels natural for us to be parents.

My girls happen to have a fabulous Guncle. Did you ever think you would be so well known for that title you both hold? Did Tori come up with that title? We love it!

Tori did. We love that we can show people that our family is just like theirs. Our fans give us big hugs when we see them out and about and we enjoy meeting everyone so much!

What upcoming projects can we look forward too? Can we hope for a "Guncle" reality show on your life because that would be amazing!

We would absolutely love to do a Guncle spin-off show (wink, wink!!) Don't forget to keep up with everything "Guncle" by visiting our website GunclesOnline.com!!!!!

{ALL} things Guncle!
{scout on twitter}
{bill on twiter)

Stay tuned for them on the next season of
Tori & Dean's Home Sweet Hollywood!
We just adore those Guncles!

Man of Style -- Jeff Lewis

By Jenny Ford, Contributing Writer

When I was approached, the night before, by Casi (head Cupcake) to interview Jeff Lewis of Bravo’s funny series “Flipping Out”, I literally FLIPPED OUT!  I admit, I had a little bit of apprehension interviewing  Jeff since he is so quick witted (would I be able to keep up?) and dry humored (will I know when he’s joking or not?).  Is my desk clean enough (oh, thankfully we weren’t skyping)…  My anxiety completely diminished once I got on the phone with him and realized he is just a normal, yet very stylish and put together, man.  Our conversation was very similar to having a chat with a friend or say, my brother.  And aside from all of his silly antics (uh hem, making his employees pee into jars so he can chase away wildlife from his property), he is humble, inspiring and motivating too.  Jeff is quite the package – humorous, hard working & stylish (and of course easy on the eyes too!), which is precisely why he has been chosen to carry the title of Man of Style for this month.

ABOUT JEFF
Jeff has been interested in architecture, design and real estate since he can remember.  He’s got plenty of memories of him and his dad working night and day on maintaining his Dad’s rental properties throughout California.  He described painting and cleaning the different rental units as “fun” – and that’s where the real estate bug bit him.

Even as a child Jeff was neat, tidy and extremely organized when it came to his personal space, it’s a control thing.  He would rearrange the furniture around the house to create better flow and appearance.  It’s been a natural talent for him and he took it into his adult life by starting a business and ultimately Jeff Lewis Design (www.jefflewisdesign.com).

THE SERIES - FLIPPING OUT!
I was surprised to find out that the Bravo Docu-Reality series “Flipping Out” was actually a fluke.  Funny thing is, Jeff hadn’t planned to be in a reality series.  Jeff, and his company of real life “characters”, were discovered through a video shot and submitted by assistant Jenni for a different reality series.  Networks came knocking to document his life and business on the TV screen.  In no way did Jeff ever see himself as famous – “I’d much rather be rich than famous” says Jeff.

But the most beneficial part of being a part of a reality series, in all honesty from Jeff, has been “the additional income”.  He was very candid about that.  I found out that the additional income hasn’t all gone to Jeff’s head, he has been able to bless those around him too.  In fact the most recent episode of Flipping Out, he took Zoila (his sarcastic, yet oh so sweet, housekeeper) to New York with him, toured her around NYC and bought her a new wardrobe at Bloomingdales all for her birthday.  “She’s been with me for 10 years, we take care of each other” (Um Jeff, can I come clean your house??)

STYLE, OUR MAN OF STYLE
Jeff describes his personal style as very brand-loyal and “Classic All American”, as he grew up in the OC which tends to dress more on the conservative side.  His favorite designers are, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Burberry, with a few more casual pieces from Abercrombie and Banana Republic.  He has to dress somewhat relaxed because he is always in some sort of construction zone and wants to look professional and put together without ruining expensive pieces.  For the job site casual footwear is a must – he sticks with brands like Nike, Converse and New Balance.  When he does get the chance to dress up he is all about the John Varvatos for suits and higher end pieces.  This stylish guy doesn’t recruit help when picking out his own wardrobe; he obviously has the magic touch to pull it all together himself.

Jeff recommends that every man have a great pair of jeans in their closet.  “Jeans that fit well and are flattering”, which Jeff has found to be a challenge for himself.  He is also an advocate for a great casual sports coat.

I asked Jeff about his skincare routine, and surprisingly he was slightly embarrassed!  “It’s been the same routine for 20 years – Ivory soap and Lubriderm.  I take 2 showers a day and don’t have time.”  Well whatever Jeff is doing is working, I’d say!  In addition to two showers, store bought soap and lotion, he drinks a ton of water except during Happy Hour, of course.  Keeping fresh, is important to Jeff, hence the two showers a day, and that’s why he is drawn to clean scents when choosing cologne.  You’ll find him smelling like Jivago, Tom Ford, John Varvatos, or Dolce & Gabbana.

FUTURE
Jeff is extremely optimistic about the future of opportunities; he never in a million years imagined his life on this grand of scale.  First a reality show on Bravo, designing an amazing kitchen for House Beautiful, a budget-friendly décor line on QVC, and a growing business.  What can we expect from him next?  The recent renovation of the popular Mexican restaurant, Casa Vega, has opened up so many more unexpected commercial opportunities for JLD, including restaurants, bars and hotels.

Though things are going extremely well for Jeff he doesn’t let it go to this ego and hasn’t forgotten his roots - he is incredibly thankful his education had been paid for and that he was able to enter the working world without student loans.  Everything else, he says, he has worked really hard for himself.  He realizes and is working on, being more adaptable, like his dad is.  His voices sparkles when he talks about his dad, you can tell he admires him and gained a tremendous amount of work ethic from him.

In the end, I had a fabulous conversation with Jeff.  I admire the show even more because of your humility and of course the giggles I get from it – you’ve got cheerleaders over here at cupcakeMag and we wish you nothing but success!

Keep in touch with Jeff!

our first MAN of STYLE - Dean McDermott

Dean clues us in on his hair, style & who the boss in the house really is.....
read on to find out!

Dean McDermott doesn't need much of an introduction. We all know & love him on Oxygen's Tori & Dean as super-man to his wife, the lovely Tori Spelling and adorable kids. But he isn't just super-man, a great actor and not to mention hilarious -- he has great style too! Whether or not he knew it, he does and we were thrilled to have him be our first cupcakeMAG Man of Style.

First, I have to ask (and then on to the style questions) how are you feeling since your accident? We were all so concerned. Are you still racing actively?

I am on the mend from my accident. Still a little sore here and there, but feeling much better. I will not be racing or dirt biking anymore, but I will still be pleasure riding, and doing my charity rides. (LA Ride For Autism).

So, you have a great style! Should we thank Tori for that or do you choose your clothes or do you have a stylist?

Firstly, thank you for thinking I have great style. I do owe my fashion sense to T, when we met she brought out the real me, and helped me expand on what I liked. She has such great fashion sense she could make anyone look good.

What does every guy need to have in their closet?

A man has to have a really good black single breasted suit in his closet. You can do so much with it. Firstly, its a suit, duh, but pair the jacket with a dark pair of denims, a crisp white shirt (or pink or blue or lavender. Whatever you fancy) and you have an upscale casual look. Wear the pants with a nice shirt and tie for a conservative casual look. The black suit is very versatile. You also need a light colored pair of denims, a couple of V neck Tee's, and a pair of black beat up boots.

We have to say -- your hair is amazing. What products do you use?

Thank you for the hair comment. I'm really starting to like you guys. My favorite hair product is D'organiques Original Sprouts Children's Styling Balm. Its made for little kids. It's hypo allergenic and scent free. It has great hold. Well that, and I only wash my hair twice a week. I'm a fan of natural oils for styling as well. My hair gets really dry if I wash it too much. I know, T.M.I.

On Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, we see you shop for Tori quite often - when it comes to shopping for yourself, do you have a favorite designer or store?

When it comes to shopping for myself. I don't have one particular store I shop at. I tend to float around until one store catches my eye with their merch. For instance, this weekend I was looking for a denim shirt, then all of a sudden the Diesel store catches my eye, and the next thing you know, I'm buying a leather jacket. I did get my denim shirt at Lucky Brand, and a few other things. Some other stores I hit up are, Kitson, The Gap, Fredrick Man, Club Monaco, and Vintage shops. I like to shop, and strongly believe in retail therapy.

How would you describe your style?

I have no idea how I would describe my style. Uhm, hit or miss . . . ?? Maybe a little rock and roll-ish, vintage, edgy conservative. Sound Good.???

What has been the most enjoyable part of doing reality tv? We are hoping for a 6th season --  we already miss you guys!

The best part of doing a reality show is the fact I get to work with my wife and family. I don't have to spend hours away from them on set somewhere, I just wake up and go to work. I get to have my cake and eat it too.

And I just have to ask -- who is the true boss in the house? :)

I may be the biggest with the loudest voice, but I am definitely NOT the boss. Its pretty equal. I choose my battles, but then again, we dont have many of them. Hows that for a NON answer.?? Geez.

What new projects do you have coming up next?

One of our new projects is Tori and Dean: Stori book weddings for Oxygen. One lucky couple will get the opportunity to have us plan their wedding. I am also working on a personal website to share some of my recipes with my fans. I am getting back to cooking. I forgot how much I enjoy it and how creative it can be.

1 - My middle name is Martin. My mom was a BIG Dean Martin fan. and it turns out, Dean Martin was Tori's god father.

2- I hate the sound of liquid being poured. I know, weird, right.??

3- I'm a HUGE stand up comedy fan. I wanted to be a stand up comic, but never had the balls for it.

4- My biggest dream was to play left defense for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL.

5- I just won 24 dollars on a scratch and win ticket.

6- I wish I had a Scottish accent.

7- My son Jack and I are addicted to turkey subs from Subway. We eat them everyday when we're together.

8- I love nude sculptures and photography.

9- I'm a pretty good carpenter.

10- I'm obsessed with watches. I'm starting a collection. Slowly, its an expensive obsession.

See, we told you he was hilarious! As we all hope for a Season 6 of Tori & Dean, make sure you stay-up-to date with Dean on Twitter and Facebook.
