EVENT OF THE WEEK: Alice + Olivia trunk show @ Urban Chic

OH WHAT A NIGHT!

What: Alice + Olivia by Stacy Bendet Trunk Show
Where: Urban Chic Georgetown Location on Wisconsin Ave
When: Friday May 29th, 6-8pm

Despite the pouring down rain many Washingtonian fashionistas stopped by the alice + olivia trunk show Friday night -it was top on our list. As we entered the store it was filled with not only shoppers but friendly staff, especially Lauren Yalich (PR) and Mariel (intern) eager to do everything they could to keep us comfortable. For guest, the tables were filled with smartwaer, vitamin water, pop rocks, blow pops, coconut topped brownies and cupcakes almost too cute to eat. As for the goody bags, we can't stop playing the trunk show cd with songs like Day and Night by Kid Cudi and MGMT's Electric Feel - its been on repeat all weekend.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE NITE:

Of course the racks that surrounded us were a hit but we must say the HIGHLIGHT was chatting with owner of Urban Chic Lindsay Buscher -- not just a thriving small business owner but a true lover of fashion herself, how could you not be with the business she has created. Lindsay along with her sister, Courtney and employee Megan make the merchandise in Urban Chic happen by mixing their 3 very different styles - Courtney, the risk taker, Megan the prepster and Lindsay, a little bit of each balance things out minus the tunnel vision. For the last 4-5 years they have decided on every item together keeping every customer and every store in mind making for a very interesting dynamic and a very successful business (we could all take notes from Lindsay). Even though Lindsay claims fashion "isn't fun right now" (which we all can DITO thanks to the economy) as she is presented with a new challenge everyday to keep going -- we think she will continue to rise.

Lindsay's FASHION TIP: If you want to take your dressy frock down a notch - pair it was a blazer or a cardigan - which she did just perfectly wearing a Alice + Olivia sequin dress, Theory blazer and J.Crew heels)
