Mezi Accessories Launch In US

The latest collection from Australian accessories brand, Mezi, reveals a more dramatic and directional offering, taking the brand’s aesthetic design to another level. Bringing together a combination of abstract expressionism and art deco shapes, the result is a superbly dynamic collection containing avant garde pieces, heavy layering and bold architectural structure.

The Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is a contrast from Mezi’s former collection with heavier metals and designs making for a rougher look and feel. Geometric shapes also take play as sculptural prisms and pyramid shapes are created through the use of various metal sculpting techniques, resulting in finishes with smooth pressed and hammered surfaces.

Mesh is used to its full capacity and through weaving and twisting of various chains of all thicknesses and weights, volume is accentuated in all neckpieces. Tubular mesh is also used to create unique bangles and rings, while more delicate metals are used in hammered metal and pearl earrings. Another key aspect of this collection is the use of knots, which allow pieces to be versatile in their wearing.

Mezi refined the color palette in the collection by opting for matte metals instead of the commonly used high shine finishes. The use of two contrasting tones can also be seen with rose golds, silvers and gunmetal intertwined in certain pieces such as flattened snake chains, raw chaining with unfinished edges, and fine mesh lined with heavy chains.

This season also presents an exciting collaboration with New Yorker Isaac Manevitz, creator of jewelry label Ben Amun. This collaborating collection features six pieces that utilize industrial-like matte gold chains, divergent mesh and oversized jewel shapes molded out of gunmetal grey, generously layered neckpieces and bracelets and earrings with statement clasps.
Mezi’s Autumn Winter 2011 collection is available from selected boutiques internationally or online at www.mezi.com.au.
