Chatting with the LEGENDary Steven Tyler

After listening to Steven Tyler talk for thirty minutes we were smitten by his down-to-earth and just amazing personality. Starting the chat with "Darling how are you?" in his rock star voice we knew this was going to be a great little talk. He seriously puts the legend in legendary. As the iconic songwriter, composer and voice of Aerosmith – America’s greatest rock-and-roll band – Steven is considered one of rock’s most recognizable and dynamic front men. Rolling Stone even named him as one of the greatest singers of all time and well, he is just that. 

Steven Tyler doesn't stop. With American Idol premiering tomorrow he is nearly booked up with getting ready for his tour with Aerosmith, starting in November & beginning song writing next week. But he warned us not to believe the tabloids -- "Aerosmith doesn't get in the way" of American Idol like they are claiming it does and he is ready for everything.

Steven has "no regrets"as he is a "grateful recovering drug addict and alcoholic" and is "always ready to take it up a notch" confessing he is "addicted to adrenaline."

On Judging: "Taking what I've grown up with - being a very harsh judge of myself, my own vocals, my own brand & kind of laid that across." He just wants to be honest and open this season and hopes to find the next American Idol. So, will he be bringing more rock and less pop? "I've got a good ear for all music, it's not just a one phase process." He is looking for "rock star quality" and claims one of the contestants will be bringing it - "His voice is ridiculous." Steven couldn't say much but he did confirm that he has more then a one year contract. He promised us he was going to take it up a notch this season on American Idol.

Thoughts on J.Lo? "She's a fox with a big heart and she's also street. I feel in love with her in The Backup Plan.

Favorite idols? Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson

Most sung Aerosmith song during auditions? He heard about 15-16 "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and on a few he was able to get into it but some were hard for him to judge. He felt they were doing it just to impress him as a judge.

"If anyone has anything to say bad about me this season, it will get better next year."

Hollywood Rounds Begin Wednesday, February 16 

Contestants Perform in Las Vegas for First Time Ever on Wednesday, February 23 

Judges’ “Wild Card” and Finalists Revealed on Thursday, March 3 

AMERICAN IDOL is set to return for its tenth season with new judges, new talent and new surprises along the way. This season’s judges – Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler – are a triple-threat of credibility, chemistry and talent. Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, whose career as a music producer and record executive is unparalleled, will serve as the in-house mentor. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the two-night season premiere kicks off with auditions from New York / New Jersey onWednesday, Jan. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and New Orleans on Thursday, Jan. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. 

After the two-night premiere, auditions will continue for three weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 8:00 PM ET/PT. 

AMERICAN IDOL auditions continue in Hollywood on Wednesday, Feb. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, Feb. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) with the hopefuls who received tickets to Hollywood from the judges. The contestants who make it through Hollywood will then head to Las Vegas for the first time ever to perform Beatles songs on the Cirque du Soleil LOVE stage Wednesday, Feb. 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The auditions will conclude on Thursday, Feb. 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) when the judges reveal – in an exciting new twist – 20 semifinalists (10 guys and 10 girls). 

The semifinalists compete on Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT). The five male and five female contestants with the most votes will be the first to join this season’s finalists. The judges’ will also make their special “Wild Card” picks rounding out the finalists on Thursday, March 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).
