ERIN FETHERSTON TO RELEASE SHORT FILM TO SHOWCASE AW09 COLLECTION WITH FILMMAKER MARISA CRAWFORD

‘Birds of a Fether’ is the newest short film to come courtesy of fashion designer Erin Fetherston. Directed and produced by director/photographer Marisa Crawford, 'Birds of a Fether ' has an incredible and eclectic cast of Fetherston friends and muses who showcase the designer's Autumn-Winter 2009/2010 collection.

This is Fetherston's fourth short film and her first time collaborating with Crawford, who is notably the niece of famed independent film director Paul Morrissey. The story, loosely inspired by the tale of the pied piper, shows Fetherston uncovering a magical trumpet which has washed ashore beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Under the power of its enchantment, the designer takes to the streets of New York City and begins to collect a following of characters who emerge from the stoops and windows of the city's apartments, restaurants and ally-ways, all of whom are drawn to the magic. Fetherston and her collective, all dressed in the designer's collection, carry on in a near manic and highly visual procession through the streets of the West Village and Tribeca.



A medley of dynamic girls make appearances in this film, including musical artists Reni Lane, whose Universal Records album will drop this September, and Kelsey Barrett of the all female punk band Effi Briest. Actress Paz De La Huerta makes a surprise cameo and Fetherston favorite, model/actress Ingrid Schram also plays a role in the film – her second time getting in front of the camera for Fetherston. Models Daria Strokous, Kelsey Close, Rudi Ovchinnikova, Sacha Blue, and Karina G also join the procession of beauties who partake in this magical, fashionable parade through the city.


To top it off Erin Fetherston is partnering with online retailer Shopbop for hosting the collection as seen in “Birds of a Fether” for purchase and will be running a special promotion to enter to win an all-expenses paid trip to New York City and tickets to the Erin Fetherston Spring 2010 show during this September’s Fashion Week. SET THE TIVO: Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami




Just a few weeks ago we chatted with the lovely Kourtney Kardashian (view interview in sidebar to the right) who told us what we can expect in Miami. We just wanted to remind our fellow CUPCAKE MAG fashionista to tune in (or set your tivo accordingly) to E! at 10pm for extended episode of the long awaited summer series - Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami.

On a side note, we were just in Miami for fashion week and one of our first stops was Dash Miami.

Dash Miami opened for business back in May and it has been non stop ever since. Miami has been showing the Kardashian ladies lots of love. If your in Miami make sure you stop by DASH - a place worth spending money with price points for all and a vibe you won't forget.

Erin Wasson to show Spring/Summer 2010 collection at Bryant Park

We received a press release today confirming rumors that ERIN WASSON will show her spring 2010 RVCA line in the Tent in Bryant Park. This will mark her first runway show at Bryant Park's biggest venue that will house 1,100 guest.






Erin Wasson RVCA is excited to announce that the brand will be showing its Spring/Summer 2010 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tents in New York City’s Bryant Park. The show will take place Friday, September 11th 2009 at 8pm, and marks the debut of Erin Wasson + RVCA on the runway.


“Humbled and honored,” are the words Wasson chooses to describe her feelings about being asked to show the new Erin Wasson + RVCA collection at the legendary Bryant Park Tents.


“I’ve spent hours at those Tents as a model, working with some of the icons of American fashion,” she notes. “And meanwhile, I’ve only been doing this design thing for a few seasons Spring ’10 is season three and it’s kind of insane to think that I’m getting to show on that same stage. I am incredibly grateful to IMG, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Maybelline New York for giving me the opportunity.”


In keeping with the out-of-the-box thinking that brought together Wasson and surf & skate brand RVCA in the first place, the Spring ’10 show will see the brand bringing a new energy to the Tents. A multi-media installation is in the works and Wasson has personally engaged a special musical guest to play live on the catwalk details are under wraps until closer to the show.


“It’s really a thrill, to be able to take a venue everyone in the fashion industry knows so well, and bring in new personalities and a new vibe that spin the experience in a different direction,” says Wasson. “I mean, it’s almost too predictable to do something ‘cool’ in, like, an abandoned warehouse. Cool can happen anywhere. It’s a state of mind. That’s the essence of the Erin Wasson + RVCA brand, and there’s no reason not to follow that logic onto the runway.”
